Truth is a mythology that we use to explain the universe to our own mind. Sometimes our truth conforms to reality; sometimes it doesn’t.
Human beings have no way of knowing whether their truth is in conformity with reality or isn’t. We accept as truth whatever conforms with our subjective view of the universe. Our culture, our social ecosystem, our emotions, our imagination, the mythologies that we have grown up with, our philosophical and political opinions, our fears, our prejudices, our hallucinations, and our sense of science and mathematics— all these play a fundamental role in deciding what we accept as the truth and what as the untruth.
Truth for human beings is not outward looking. It is introspective. It is a mythology crafted by human minds. Truth is propagated not by observation, scientific proof or philosophical arguments but by propaganda and indoctrination. The most widely accepted truths are always those that are backed by powerful institutions and governments.
